Review Of Constituency Development Projects

The date of the next general election has not been called, but Members of Parliament are in preparation mode knowing their work over the years will be a factor in being re-elected. The Constituency Development Committee met on Tuesday to review proposals for work in their constituency from the MPs.

“Member Miss Lisa Hanna, Constituency St Ann South Eastern Project Type Physical Infrastructure.: St Ann South Eastern Wall for Multipurpose Pedro River 2020/2021, budgeted $999, 159, implementing agency is the St Ann Municipal Corporation,” says Committee Chairman, Everald Warmington.

Many of these proposals are geared towards human and social development, economic empowerment, and physical infrastructure plus focused on education, housing, and welfare.

“Member of Parliament Mrs. Juliet Holness, St Andrew East Rural, project type economic enablement, name of Project St Andrew East Rural Economic Programme budgeted 3 million dollars, implementing agency SDC.”

While the members of parliament have put forward their plans, members of the public believe there are issues that have have been overlooked in constituencies and should be made a priority.

Each member of parliament is provided with $20 million from the constituency development fund to undertake projects in the divisions they serve.
