Two police officers were reportedly injured in an altercation with a resident of the Sanshore District in Portland. Reports are that the officers were attempting to enforce aspects of the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA).
It was reported that at about 10:15 p.m. on January 10, a police team was on patrol in the community, where they observed a party in progress.
The event was reportedly taking place outside of curfew hours and the number of persons at the gathering numbered approximately 150.
Additionally, one of the patrons was accosted by the police when they observed a bulge in his waist.
He was found with a knife in his possession and was arrested and subsequently charged.
A police service vehicle was also damaged.
However, on the account of residents, it was not a party, but instead a regular bar.
The police are issuing a stern warning to residents, to desist from attacking the police as they perform their duties.
The public is again being encouraged to adhere to the existing COVID-19 restrictions as stipulated by Government.
