Two Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) Soldiers were arrested in connection with the seizure of approximately 1500 pounds of ganja in Gutters, St. Elizabeth on Tuesday. This, after they engaged in a gun battle with a Police team, assisted by JDF members.
Reports are that about 9:30 p.m, the team attempted to intercept a minivan in the area. However, the occupants of the vehicle reportedly fired upon the team and discarded packages as they attempted to flee.
A minivan, property of the Jamaica Defence Force, is now riddled with bullet holes, as a result of the shootout between the two members of the JDF and the Police team comprising of members of the Narcotics Division and the Westmoreland Division, boosted by other JDF members.
Head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications Unit, Stephanie Lindsay told CVM LIVE, that the incident stems from an attempt by the team to intercept the vehicle, which was transporting roughly 1500 pounds of marijuana.
She adds that there haven’t been any reports of injuries.
