Scores of concerned Jamaicans, among them representatives of advocacy groups, gathered outside the offices of the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, calling for the massive pay hike for politicians to be recalled.
They have pledged to continue voicing their disapproval through protest actions. A fervent gathering of protesters has descended in the vicinity of the Ministry of Finance, denouncing the government’s controversial decision to increase the salaries of the political directorate by an unprecedented over 200 percent. The move continues to fuel a fiery debate on socio-economic inequality, and the allocation of taxpayer funds.
