In the second quarter of 2023, a total of fifty-three individuals were either fatally shot or injured, with thirty-six losing their lives and seventeen sustaining injuries at the hands of the security forces, as reported by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) Commissioner Hugh Faulknor.
