Head of state of the Cockpit Country, Chief Richard Currie, fired back within hours of the Prime Minister’s comments on Jamaica as a unitary sovereign state. Chief Currie said Jamaica as a government entity begged for independence whereas the Maroons waged war to maintain theirs.
“A great deception”, that’s how Chief Currie sees the Prime Minister’s statement on Sunday, rejecting the Maroons’ sovereignty. He says such deception purposely creates division in the hearts and minds of people.
In the same breath, Chief Currie is questioning Jamaica’s sovereignty… Currie outlines that Jamaica currently has an extensive external debt and constantly depends on other sovereign nations.
