Chicken Prices to Drop 12.50 JMD Per Kilo Starting Thursday

A 12-dollar fifty-cent drop in the price of select Best-dressed Chicken products is expected to provide some ease to consumers and retailers. The price change takes effect tomorrow. It’s being met with much support from the government of Jamaica.

Effective Thursday, locals can expect a reduction of $12.50 on every kilo of select chicken products from the Best-dressed Chicken; that is the word from the Jamaica Broilers group one of Jamaica’s largest poultry producers. CVM LIVE spoke with the group’s vice president of Finance and Corporate Planning, Ian Parsard. He says stabilization in global factors has triggered the benefit, however it’s unclear how long this reduction will last. Parsard says the trickle-down is expected to ease consumers’ burden. However, he admits operators will also have a role to play.

He’s hoping ultimately consumers of their products will benefit while the price cut lasts. Meantime, Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Pearnel Charles Junior is welcoming the price cut as timely. Watch the full report:
