After a spate of serious accidents, in Yallahs, St Thomas, on the developing roadway the national works agency has come forward to refute claims of insufficient signage. Following recent accidents on the newly opened section of the Albion main road, in Yallahs, St Thomas, the National Works Agency (NWA) says checks, have confirmed that sufficient caution signs were placed along the side of the developing roadway.
Two accidents were recorded in less than 24 hours, in the same spot. In one incident the lone occupant of a white Mitsubishi colt was left with an amputated leg, after crashing into a parked tractor. The man was allegedly speeding on the incomplete thoroughfare which residents say is poorly lit and allegedly has insufficient signage.
Acting Communication and Customer Services Manager at the NWA, Dainalyn Swaby, spoke with CVM LIVE. She says safety measures will be ramped up in the area for road users’ safety. Swaby is however encouraging motorists who use the roadway to obey all the advanced safety signs that are in place.
