A stalwart in the Jamaican education system with over 53 years of service. That is how many will remember Dr. Bernice Rose Moore. The mother of six who was 87 years old passed to her eternal reward in November of 2022.
Institutions such as the Shortwood Teachers College, Greenwich and Swallowfield All Age, and the Norman Manley High School had the honour of experiencing Moore’s expertise in Home Economics and other subject areas. She was a double-time awardee for her national contribution to education. A tribute on behalf of the Ministry of Education lauded Moore’s indelible impact on Jamaica.
Moore did not only live a dedicated and exemplary life as an educator but was recognized for her nurturing, compassionate and vivacious characteristics that shaped many. Matriarch Moore’s life and legacy was celebrated on Saturday at the University of the West Indies Chapel in St Andrew.
