Analyzing the 2022 Jamaica Teaching Council Bill

The government’s tabling of the Teaching Council Bill, the purpose of which is to recognize and promote teaching as a profession, in regulating the entry and standing of members of the teaching profession, has come in for some criticism. While it has been revised, there are those who maintain it has some shortcomings.

Panelists: Owen Speid Educator, Principal of the Rosseau Primary School and former president of the Jamaica Teachers Association and Dr. Canute Thompson, Senior Lecturer and Head of the Caribbean Centre for Educational Planning University of the West Indies.
