Minutes after 11am, police were called to the scene of a murder on Unity Lane in the west Kingston community of Rose Town. More bloodshed in the corporate area, as a woman was shot and killed in the Rose Town community. In another incident a man was murdered and three other people injured. Sunday, a day designated as a ‘no- movement day’ across the island, yet criminals had an agenda of their own.
A woman identified as Paula Raphael is the latest victim in an ongoing violence in the area. Residents who spoke off camera gave their account of what happened during and after the time of the incident.
The residents say Paula’s death pushes to four – the number of women killed in the area since the start of August 2021. The violence has reached a point where people evacuating their homes to live elsewhere.
