Effective April 1 this year, security guards should be granted benefits as employees following a ruling in 2022 by the Supreme Court. After security officers lament the waiting period, one union leader is reminding them the government is taking the necessary steps in ensuring there is a smooth transition.
There has been ongoing criticism regarding the government’s approach toward security guards’ receiving increased work benefits. Speaking with CVM LIVE, President of the Union of Technical, Administrative and Supervisory Personnel (UTASP) St. Patrice Ennis noted the ruling was directed to take effect for all private security groups. He explains is specific to security companies that are contracted to the government. Watch the report:
