The UK High Commissioner on Friday July 30, presented to Jamaica some 300,000 doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca Vaccine courtesy of the UK Government on Friday. Prime Minister Andrew Holness and several officials were present to receive the shipment which, is expected to facilitate the vaccination of adults 18 years and older starting Saturday, July 31.

The message from the British High Commissioner to Jamaicans, “Get the Jook.” The UK High Commissioner says the UK is committed to creating and distributing vaccines to the rest of the globe as the world grapples with the pandemic.
Meanwhile, local leaders shared the same sentiments with the Mr. Ahmad for Jamaicans to get vaccinated. Prime Minister Andrew Holness noted that there is currently an estimate of almost 700 hundred beds, 200 or more of which are now occupied, which means there is a critical need for vaccination.
