The Ministry of Local Government will be providing financial support geared towards the rehabilitation of the Charles Gordon Market in Montego Bay, St James. Though there has been little improvement, vendors who utilize the space are discontented with the conditions of the facility.

Following a meeting with the Trelawny Parish Council on July 8,  Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie toured the Charles Gordon Market. Minister McKenzie says though the vendors have been having issues with the conditions of the market, they have seemingly been doing well. However he states that their is still room for improvement.

Minister McKenzie says $60 million will be provided by the Ministry for the rehabilitation of the market, he also added that the vendors also have a responsibility in ensuring the facility is properly utilized.

He suggested the vendors organize as a collective to aid the Municipality in being more efficient when addressing issues.
