Tech Company Partnerships to Bring ‘Coding in Schools’

The Amber Group will be partnering with the Ministry of Education (MOE) in creating a programme that will introduce coding as part of the curriculum in secondary schools.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness shared how the partnership will aid in Jamaica’s development. Reliance on technology has increased since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in Jamaica. A key player in providing technology-based solutions to the Jamaican government is the amber group. Speaking at the amber event, Prime Minister Andrew Holness commended the group for contributing to fast-tracking the country’s economic development and sustainable development.

The Amber Group, one of the largest technology conglomerates in the Caribbean, has worked on other government-based initiatives.  Public partnerships like these are encouraged by the Prime Minister.

As it looks to expand its reach amber will also partner with the Ministry of Education to introduce coding in schools.

The company is currently training individuals in coding at The Amber/HEART/NSTA Coding Academy. Their enterprise also features GPS tracking, E-payment Services, and cybersecurity.
