The Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM) has initiated an inquiry into the fatal shooting of 34-year-old Kenroy Roach, also known as ‘Ticka Weed,’ a laborer from Bogue Hill, St James. The incident occurred on Tuesday at approximately 6:45 pm when a police team responded to information about armed individuals in the area. Upon arrival, Roach and his associates reportedly fled a shop, engaging in gunfire with the police. The law enforcement officers, responding to the threat, returned fire, resulting in the fatal shooting of Roach. His accomplices managed to escape the scene.
Roach was found with a black Glock 17 semi-automatic pistol, equipped with a magazine containing two live 9mm rounds. He was pronounced dead at Cornwall Regional Hospital. St James police reveal that Roach had long been on the list of the parish’s most wanted individuals and was recently featured in the Police Wanted Wednesdays campaign. INDECOM’s investigation aims to provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding the fatal confrontation.
