Some 80 million Jamaican dollars have been allocated for the phased road works in Manchester. Minister without portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth, Everald Warmington along with Central Manchester Member of Parliament, Rhoda-Moy Crawford, toured sections of the parish Wednesday, August 25. The road works are slated to begin in September.
The Minister says the improved road works will also ease the traffic flow throughout sections of the parish. He adds several roads will be signalized and the construction of medians. In the meantime phase, 2 of the drainage system will commence at 8 million dollars. He emphasised that these allocations are not for routine quarterly road patches but for the projects which the Member of Parliament asked for asked for.
Minister Warmington says some of the roads are already in the procurement process, and by the end of September, constructions should begin. He says in the meantime phased two of the drainge system will commence in Mandeville.
Meanwhile, Central Manchester MP, Rhoda-Moy Crawford says as a native of Manchester, she has always been aware of the conditions before being elected and notes the issues are also her reality.
