Public Bodies Had Over $1B In SSL

Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke who revealed that the securities sector in Jamaica includes just 38 licensed dealers, who are jointly responsible for over 1.4 trillion dollars in assets, said that the portfolio of Stocks and Securities Limited, which is currently being accused of securities fraud, was approximately $28 billion or 2% of the market.

However, the Minister also revealed that a considerable portion of those funds was a result of investment by a number of public bodies, the amounts were reported to the Minister by the temporary manager currently installed at SSL.
