Westmoreland squatters have to relocate; Prime Minister Andrew Holness is insisting the most the government can do regarding the Little Bay and Brighton Lands in contention is to aid with their relocation. 

His words offered little comfort for scores of settlers on the over 800 acres of beachfront property in Westmoreland that is set for development. The Prime Minister met with the residents who demanded his presence recently after the property owners attempted to evacuate them from the land. He admits that the issue has been brought to the attention of the government but the cost prevented the government from owning the land. Prime Minister Holness maintains the government cannot go against the court’s ruling and notes the issue has been raised with successive governments.

However, he notes that the government is open to seeking the best terms for relocating the many families living and operating businesses there. More details in this report:
