PNP Slams ‘Negotiating with Gangsters’ Idea

The People’s National Party (PNP) is slamming junior Minister Homer Davis for suggesting that the police negotiate with gangsters to help reduce crime. The Vice President of the PNP, Ian Hayles, notes the suggestion is one that, if executed, will lead Jamaica in the wrong direction.

The Minister of National Security Dr. Horace Chang asserts the government will not be accepting that suggestion – which was supported by Justice Minister Delroy Chuck, for the police to negotiate with gangsters to help curtail crime.

Speaking at the PNP Divisional Conference in St. Elizabeth the PNP Vice President highlighted that negotiating with gangsters is a sign of poor leadership, and adds that the execution of such act can lead Jamaica down a disastrous path. He explained that actions such as those are reflective of a failed state.

Meanwhile, the Party’s Region 5 Chairman Kern Spencer says crime in St. Elizabeth is a cause for concern. He questions what the government intends to do to address the issue.

The conference was held on Sunday to endorse O’Neil Buchanan as Councillor-caretaker for the Brompton Division. Watch the report for more details:
