Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Members of the Lower House of Parliament on July 20, condemned the alleged beating death of 4-year-old Nashaun Brown, by his stepfather identified as 24-year-old Shaun Bennett on Sunday, July 18.

Prime Minister Holness says the cruel act has scarred the society.

Reports are that 4-year-old Nashaun Brown complained of not feeling well and was given a meal by his mother.

He was allegedly eating slowly when his stepfather, became angry and proceeded to beat him with a stick.

Nashaun’s mother reportedly intervened and was also assaulted.

Shortly after, the child became unresponsive and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

For the first half of 2021, the National Children’s Registry (N.C.R) received 1465 reports of physical abuse.
