Pearnel Dismisses Claims of Yam Importation as Misleading

Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Pearnel Charles Jr on Wednesday, dismissed as misleading, social media posts alleging Jamaica’s been importing yams from China. The Minister notes negative comments on social media should be avoided.

The Minister says less attention should be given to provoking comments placed on social media, where the information was shared. He notes such erroneous claims are quite unfortunate and potentially damaging. He explains the Ministry intends to focus on works currently being done in agriculture. This he says will create opportunities.

Meantime, the Minister is currently in Tokyo Japan at a coffee exhibition to boost Jamaica’s coffee industry.
