Speaking in the House of Representatives Thursday, Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke was questioned on the compensation review in regards to allowances that have become taxable. The Minister also addressed the Opposition’s concern relating to support for micro small and medium enterprises (MSME).
This as the Opposition pointed out their disappointment with the reduction of finances for the MSMEs and an alleged lack of attention from the government. Another concern raised, was the underspend of the National Identification System (NIDS).
Dr. Clarke explains there were delays due to the key elements needed to kick-start the system. In the meantime, Minister without Portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister Floyd Green provided some clarity regarding a timeline for the Finance Committee.
