Opposition leader Mark Golding is responding to the cries from residents settling on several acres of beachfront lands in Little Bay, Westmoreland now facing eviction.

On Wednesday residents demanded the opposition leader and the Prime Minister intervene to prevent a planned demolition of their houses and businesses erected on the prime lands. The Opposition Leader has since called on Prime Minister Andrew Holness to intervene on behalf of the many irate and soon displaced families.

Golding contends some residents have been paying taxes for these lands, and have sought representation from the government through their Member of Parliament Moreland Wilson, but have not seen any intervention from the authorities to address their plight.

Golding reiterated his call for the Prime Minister to intervene before this situation results in loss of property or life.

Meantime, the attorney representing the landowner who resides overseas, Alimi Banjoko says after months of waiting the time has come to evict the settlers adding that it is only right that his client is allowed to possess her property.
