Following the Auditor General’s Report in September last year, Nutrition Products Limited appeared before the Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday, February 1, to provide an update on its operations. It was revealed that though NPL had ceased operation for about two years, millions have been spent on staff and overheads.

After halting operations for almost two years since the onset of the pandemic, they are set to resume production in April this year.

It was outlined, that government policy does make provision for the retention of public sector workers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic; therefore, the staff was not laid off. Acting Permanent Secretary Maureen Dwyer shared that a team from the Development Bank of Jamaica has begun work to divest Nutrition Products Limited.
