Nurses Association of Jamaica Continues Call For Support

The Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ) is continuing its call for greater support, in light of the stress caused by the coronavirus on the health sector. It says its members can become overwhelmed, given the urgent medical demand.

The Jamaica Medical Foundation held its 31st general meeting on Wednesday. Guest speaker immediate past president of the Nurses Association of Jamaica, Carmen Johnson highlighted some of the issues the Health Sector has been facing since COVID-19.

With the recent cluster of cases at the Golden Age Home, Johnson says it is the responsibility of all well thinking Jamaicans to take the necessary precautions and follow the protocols.

She says Medical Workers are willing and steadfast in providing quality and efficient care to the public.

She further noted that Health Care Workers are mindful of compromising lives, in an over-populated environment, which would inevitably lead to a rise in cases.

“Imagine I come and I see four of you on the ward now and we’re deciding which one we should put on the ventilator and you start look on the variables and tick off which one may survive better and decide the other three just can’t survive because you can’t give them and we don’t want to get to that point,” she said.
