No set date for the long awaited Vale Royal talks. Speaking on Sunday at a Media Mingle, Opposition Leader, Mark Golding says they are yet to receive any concrete date for the resumption of the Vale Royal talks. His remark spurred calls for alacrity for a date from one private sector body.
President of the Private Sector Organization (PSOJ) Metry Seaga says he is confident the leaders will resume the talk and will come to a consensus on crime. He adds plans to resume the Vale Royal talks were announced by the Prime Minister at a media briefing in December as part of efforts to build consensus on issues of national importance between the government and the Opposition.
Meantime, speaking on other issues of national security, notably changes to the new Firearm Act Golding says there might be a prolonged backlog of cases and prison congestion. Golding notes the system needs to focus on rehabilitation, and youth engagement among other issues, other than harsh policing and detention, to reduce crime.
