Nicaraguans Set To Leave Before End of March

In this CVM Live story, two Nicaraguans being held at the Savanna-La-Mar police station in Westmoreland have their eyes set on the newest date from the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) for their deportation / return home.

This follows delays after delays since being detained on February 13, 2021, then subsequently charged with illegal entry and paying a fine of 5-thousand dollars each to avoid 30 days in jail.

Our reporter Aladden Love has been reporting on the Nicaraguan’s dilemma and has the latest update. Friday March 25 will no doubt leave an indelible mark on two illegal Nicaraguan Nationals who desperately want to return home. It’s the latest departure date from the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA). The men, who’ve been stuck at the savanna-la-mar police station for a little over a year, were expected to leave the country late November as indicated.

By a Senior Director at PICA. On November 16 she told CVM Live PICA was now in possession of the men’s travel documents and was awaiting confirmation of available flights.

However, the Nicaraguan’s hopes of being reunited with family and friends at least before Christmas were crushed.

The reason? A positive covid-19 test according to the CEO of PICA, Andrew Wynter who in December gave our news team a new date; January 13. The senior director at pica says, there were no available flights from El Salvador or Dominican Republic to Nicaragua’s capital, Managua after the end of the men’s quarantine period. The Nicaraguans and their relatives are really hoping the emotional roller coaster will end in two weeks.
