New Hope for A Jamaican Future Free of Violent Crime

Despite a 7.5% reduction in murders, crime and violence persist in Jamaica, ranking it tenth globally in crime rates according to the 2023 World Population Review. In his New Year’s message, Prime Minister Andrew Holness acknowledged the challenge, emphasizing the need for distinct strategies to combat violence separately from crime. Opposition Leader Mark Golding expressed commitment to collaboratively building a safer Jamaica, while Governor General Sir Patrick Allen encouraged residents to persist in pursuit of positive change. With hopes high for a brighter future, all stakeholders urge Jamaicans to contribute to fostering a safer nation.
