After less than a day of deliberation, jurors find Derek Chauvin guilty of all charges over George Floyd’s death.
The jury returned guilty verdicts of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and manslaughter after deliberating for under 11 hours.
The former police officer was filmed kneeling on Floyd for over nine minutes during his arrest last May. The video footage led to protests in the United States of America and around the world over police use of force against minorities.
Bert Samuels, a local defense lawyer, reacts to Chauvin Verdict – he says that the verdict on April 20, speaks volumes internationally. Samuels said there is a need for local authorities to learn from what happened in the case.
