Doctors say Former Prime Minister, Most Hon. P.J. Patterson, should make a full recovery

Kingston, Jamaica. October 15, 1.00 p.m.: The Medical Team attending to former Prime Minister of Jamaica, the Most Hon. P.J. Patterson, at the Tony Thwaites Wing of the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI), has completed his medical evaluation and assessment and has determined that Mr. Pattersonsuffered injuries to his right knee and right hip.

In a bulletin at 1.00 p.m. today, the doctors said the former Prime Minister will undergo surgery tomorrow, Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at the University Hospital.

The Medical Team, led by Dr. Kenneth Vaughn, Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at the UHWI, said they expected the former Prime Minister to make a full recovery with the appropriate medical treatment.

Mr. Patterson’s family has expressed sincere appreciation for the many expressions of best wishes which have been pouring in from many Jamaicans to the hospital centre.

The former Prime Minister has been visited by People’s National Party (PNP) President and Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Peter Phillips; the Minister of Health, Dr. Christopher Tufton; and Minister with responsibility for Education, Youth, and Information, Mr. Karl Samuda.
