MOE Says More Distribution Of Tablets To Come

Students are gleeing at their new tablets as they were handed over to them by Minister of Education, Fayval Williams and E-Learning Jamaica. This is one more step forward to reaching the goal to make the online educational system more reachable for all.

The Jones Town Primary, Iris Gelley and Trench Town Primary Schools were among the schools to receive tablets from the Ministry of Education and E-Learning Jamaica. 

Minister Fayval Williams says thanks to the taxpayers of Jamaica their project to collect and distribute tablets and other technological devices has been possible.

Williams says if there is any hope for Jamaica to become a digital society it must begin with the children.

Minister Williams says the Ministry along with the E-Learning company is aware that they will have the responsibility to make students learn to be technologically savy and responsible in the virtual world.

She says they have the responsibility to have various softwares to protect the younger users from malwares ,online predators and adult content. 

Williams took  the opportunity to announce the new initiative called “One Laptop or Tablet Per Child”.

Shes says steps are being taken to ensure every child across Jamaica will have a tablet in their hand.

Peoples National Party, Member of Parliament South St. Andrew Mark Golding says he is happy, that three out of five of the schools within his constituency received tablets.

He says he too has been trying to collect tablets to aid with the Government’s initiative buy distributing them across high schools in his constituency.

Additionally, he says the Ministry is taking the right approach to target youths within primary education.
