Man killed after allegedly assaulting 14-Year-Old girl

The Police are advising residents not to take the law into their own hands after an alleged homicide of an unemployed man known as Orando ‘Teo’ Coward. SSP Dwight Powell gives us the details in the report. READ:

Report: Malicious Destruction of Property; Assault at Common Law; Possession of Prohibited Weapons; child stealing; and Homicide of Orando Coward o/c Teo date of birth 10/4/1987 unemployed of Gray Wood, St. Ann and the recovery of two Firearms.

Reporting the above-mentioned offences committed at Gray Wood District, Castle Kelly, Blackstonage, Moneague, St. Ann Committed between 7:20am and 9:20am, 15/3/2024.

Facts: The now deceased armed with a shotgun and and a homemade hand gun went to the home of a resident ofthesaidcommunity, smashed her window entered her dwelling and held onto her 8 years old daughter and demanded her.

The mother fought off the attacker and regained her daughter. The now deceased in turn took away her 2 years old son and run away with him into bushes.

A man hunt was launched and the baby rescued from his attacker with assistance of the now deceased girlfriend.

About 9:20am, the said day, the now deceased returned to the home of resident, where he held other residents at gun point. The residents confronted him and used machete to hit a shotgun out of his hand. Coward then pointed a homemade hand gun at them.

Some of the residents in fear of their lives dispersed while others tried to apprehend him when he pointed the handgun at them. During the process he received chop wounds to the upper region of his body.

He was later found unresponsive in a small stream of water. One shot gun and one homemade handgun were also recovered from him.

The scene, body and Firearms were processed by Detectives of the Area 2 TSD.

The scene was visited and investigations are being carried out by the Moneague Police. It is to be noted that on Wednesday, 14/3/2024, the now deceased abducted and rape a 14 Years old girl in the said community.

He also threatened to continue create havoc in the said community if the matters are reported to the police.
It is to be noted that since the report of the rape of the 14 years old, the St Ann Police has carried out several operations in the community, the last of which was on Thursday March 14, 2024 to apprehend the suspect.
