JCF Launches Mental Health Training

In a significant move to reshape perspectives on mental health, the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has initiated a Mental Health Training Programme. Targeting both those served by first responders and the responders themselves, the St. Catherine South Division spearheaded this vital initiative. Senior Superintendent of Police for the St. Catherine South Division, Christopher Phillips, emphasized the program’s importance, calling it a milestone in their commitment to service excellence. Phillips highlighted the program’s focus on equipping first responders with essential skills to address mental health issues. Phillips, drawing on his extensive experience, acknowledged the toll policing can take on one’s well-being, making them vulnerable to mental illness. He urged members to apply the acquired skills not only professionally but also for personal well-being.
