The significance of Jamaica’s tourism product to the emergence from the travel restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic was recently highlighted by the Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) which noted that the hotels and restaurants category was outpacing other subsectors by over 35%. Minister of Tourism Edmond Bartlett had high praise for the efforts of all tourism stakeholders in 2022.

Visitor expenditure was also estimated to have increased by 49.5 per cent. With robust end of year arrivals, the Minister lamented the loss of a significant number of workers from the sector and says that efforts are being made to get them back. With expectations of continued progress in the New Year.
