The Meteorological Service of Jamaica says the country of Jamaica remains on a tropical storm watch as the tropical depression Grace nears Haiti.
The Director of the Met Service, Evon Thompson, says the island will be impacted by intense conditions associated with Grace on Tuesday as it develops into a tropical storm. For the next 48 hours, Jamaica will remain under a tropical storm watch as tropical depression Grace, approaches southwest Haiti and moves closer to Jamaica.
Director of the meteorological service of Jamaica Evon Thompson says the weather system will begin to impact the country Monday night.
In bulletin number 5 on the tropical depression, the Meteorological Service Division advises that as the centre of Grace nears southwest Haiti, it will pass between Jamaica and Haiti as a tropical storm on Tuesday. Thompson says the weather system is likely to trigger other natural disasters.
The Met Service says the sea conditions will gradually deteriorate over the next 24 to 36 hours. Marine interests are being urged to exercise extreme caution and small craft operators should remain in port.
