J.A.S Concern Over Possible Recession

Following the International Monetary Fund predictions that one-third of the global economy could experience recession for the new year, President of the Jamaica Agricultural Society Lenworth Fulton says if this recession should hit Jamaica it is likely that the agricultural sector will be hard hit.

He says if Jamaica is faced with an extensive recession it is likely that it will impact food production. In preparing for a potential downturn he says it is encouraged that the government provides assistance to banana, sugar, and plantain farmers.  He says a recession is likely to impact revenue from tourism as well.
