Iona High School Gets Driving Simulator- Donation from China

Preparing to travel along the nation’s roads can be a daunting task for even experienced road users, let alone those just learning the discipline. Opportunities to practice virtually, are being seen as a valuable way to introduce aspiring motorists in a realistic yet safe environment. And courtesy of a donation from China, one St Mary High School is gearing up for just that.

On the grounds of Iona High School in Western St Mary, now sits a piece of technology, that will drive a virtual revolution in road safety among learners. The driving simulator was donated to the school courtesy of the People’s Republic of China. Member of Parliament for Western St Mary and former Transport Minister Robert Montague recognized the significance of the patronage.

The locally developed technology has multiple functions to prepare learners for what is, with the new Road Traffic Act, anticipated to be a more orderly driving environment. Watch the report:
