Gregory Park Residents Scared to Help Police

Scared and silenced are two words used to describe some Gregory Park residents, as they lament their terror in working with the police to catch criminals.

One resident is accusing the police of collaborating with criminals, a claim being shot down by the crime fighter. Even with the 6 pm curfew extended in Gregory Park, St. Catherine, police continue to report illegal activities in the area.

Speaking with CVM Live on Tuesday, Senior Superintendent of Police Christopher Phillips says they’ve recently found one Remington shotgun with six 12-gauge cartridges in the community. He says the gun was found during an early morning search of the area after a group of men fled upon seeing the police.

SSP Phillips continues to urge residents to help the police in catching these criminals. However, one resident says they’d love to work with the police but they’re afraid. The resident accuses the police of taking sides with some communities while blaming others even when it’s perceived as unwarranted.

SSP Phillips denied the claims.
