The second of 14 town halls to be hosted across the island by the local government ministry was held in Westmoreland on Friday. As part of the ministry’s hurricane preparedness initiative, the parish will see upgrades in its water supply. Minister of local Government and Rural Development, Desmond McKenzie hosted the second town hall in Westmoreland. The first one was held in Rocky Point, Clarendon.

The town hall is geared towards ensuring parishes are fully prepared for the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season. Minister McKenzie says the white house area in Westmoreland has been under the ministry’s radar for some time. The parish which is known for motor cycles, McKenzie notes the ministry will also include cyclists in Westmoreland in a new initiative launched by the ministry recently. He’s encouraging motorcyclists to be mindful on the road and engage in the programs made available by the government.

In regards to water in the parish, the minister provided an update as to when the ministry will be carrying out its plan.
