Fixed Election Dates and the Delay of Local Government Election

Mixed reaction to the government’s decision to postpone yet again the local government elections, which were due in February of this year. It has resuscitated the conversation around fixed election dates, but are local government elections important and necessary? What is the value of our local government system?
