Electronic Ticketing Solution to Hold Motorist Accountable

The updated Traffic Ticketing Management  System (TTMS), which is an electronic ticketing system, will see motorists being held accountable for tickets they received and even barred from certain services at the Tax Administration Office if they fail to pay the tickets on time.

Minister of National Security, Dr. Horace Chang says the web-based system is also an instrumental part of the government’s effort to create greater public order in the country.

The web-based system will manage the traffic tickets from the point it was issued to the offender to the point when it is either being paid at the tax office or adjudicated in court. The handheld traffic ticketing solution is expected to eliminate twenty-five points of failure identified in the manual paper base ticketing process.

Dr. Chang says the web-based system will also seek to address public order.

The Ministry in December 2019 procured 12 laptops, 3 desktops, 14 printers to further facilitate the switch over. The devices were given to the Traffic Court.

Chang says the previous system had officers doing their jobs but getting nothing done as motorists do not pay their tickets and avoid the penalties.

In 2019, a ten-year backlog of 240, 000 traffic tickets which were paid but not updated were cleared from the system. Minister Chang says this is a part of the Ministry’s efforts to develop and reorganize the police force.
