No Plans To Get Specialize Burn Unit – The death of Kerry- Ann Collins, hours before she was scheduled to leave the island to undergo treatment for her third-degree burns, has pointed to the absence of a burn unit at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH).

Minister of Health and Wellness Doctor Christopher Tufton is now weighing in on the issue. When asked to comment on the situation at the Palm Grove housing scheme, Minister Tufton says the Health Ministry was part of the efforts to get Kerry-Ann Collins overseas for treatment.

Minister Tufton, says despite the limitations at the KPH, given the absence of a specialized burn unit, hospital officials have been able to treat nonsevere cases

The recent incident has had hundreds of Jamaicans calling for a burn unit at the hospital, but that call will seemingly go unanswered for now.

After being admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Kingston Public Hospital for twelve days, Kerry-Ann Collins died at the hospital.
