Dr. Peter Phillips: Jamaica Needs a Strong Opposition

As the People’s National Party (PNP) ended their 83rd two-day conference on Sunday, the former leader of the party Dr. Peter Phillips reminded party members about the importance of unity and the rich progressive history of the Party. He explained that although persons in the party may disagree, members must do so in a respectful manner.

“Comrades and members of the party should always be able to trust the integrity of the internal democratic structures and processes within the party and to believe that those structures would never be manipulated whether by money or by force,” says Dr. Peter Phillips Adding that comrades are usually known for treating each other with respect without using disrespectful languages.

Dr. Phillips notes that members of the party should have some level of trust as it relates to the democratic structures within the organisation, which should not be exploited.
