Dr. Nigel Clarke on Contract Workers

Amidst unrest due to the reclassification exercise for public sector workers, another demographic of the labour market looks on in hope. A landmark trillion-dollar budget meets a legal and labour ethics concern, as Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Nigel Clarke, seemed to express regret at the impact of a longstanding employment status issue, that was deemed illegal by the nation’s courts.

However, according to Opposition spokesperson on Labour and Social Security Dr. Angela Brown Burke, who raised the issue during a sitting of the standing Finance Committee on March 2, the extent that contract work exists beyond the public sector, remains a point of concern.
