Chinese Couple Murdered in St. Elizabeth

A Chinese couple was shot and killed last night during a robbery at the Jojo Supermarket in St. Elizabeth. Their identities have not yet been released.

Marauding gunmen shot and killed the couple who are yet to be identified. The incident unfolded shortly after seven Thursday night. It’s understood customers were still in the establishment when the couple was attacked.

The man was killed on the spot while the wife was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey commented briefly on the killing.

Efforts to get a comment from south-eastern St. Elizabeth MP, Frank Witter, proved futile. Just weeks ago, gunmen shot and killed an infant school teacher in treasure beach, south-west St. Elizabeth, sending shock waves throughout the usually peaceful community.

The MP, Floyd Green took to social media decrying the heinous acts. He notes that it’s been a rough time for the residents who are now being exposed to brazen and deadly acts of violence.

However he insists, they will not allow criminals to change the characteristics of their communities. MP Green says now more than ever residents have to unite and work with the police to bring an end to crime.
