Central Kingston Residents Injured After Police Clash

An incident Sunday in Central Kingston has left residents in fear of the police after two of their own suffered injuries in a squabble with the lawmen. The Member of Parliament is demanding intervention while urging compliance among residents and professionalism from the police. The incident captured on video Sunday evening has been a trigger for many residents some of whom allegedly felt the force the police wield in the inner city of central Kingston.

A woman and her daughter were injured, a take from various perspectives as told by the residents. They say the rift is deepened because of the seeming bias from some political representatives in the ongoing gang feud spurring constant attacks. One woman fled the off-camera interview upon seeing the police. However, Member of Parliament Donovan Williams in denouncing what he described as the excessive and disproportionate use of force urged residents to comply with law enforcement.

He says he has implored the victims of the incident to speak to the relevant oversight bodies. The MP also appealed to the police commissioner in seeking heightened control in rose gardens. Watch the report:
