The Carnival Sunrise cruise will again dock at the Ocho Rios Port in St. Ann, on Wednesday, August 25, following its last call on August 16 which signaled the resumption of cruise operations on the island. This time the Cruise will be taking over two thousand visitors and one thousand crew members to the island.
Senior advisor and tourism communications strategist in Jamaica’s Ministry of Tourism Delano Seiveright said that the visitors on board are fully vaccinated and that they had to produce a negative COVID-19 test result before boarding the ship.
In response to the complaints of the vendors and transport operators who felt cheated, Seiveright said that there were some misunderstandings and consultations have since been had with those members. He explains it has been clarified, as they now understand that there has to be accountability.
Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police Kevin Francis says the police have intelligence that plans are afoot for some detractors to disrupt the arrival of the cruise ship.
