A recent study done by the Caribbean Policy Research Institute (CaPRI ) titled ‘Growth Less Jobs: The Paradox of Rising Employment and Stagnant Output’ found that lack of skilled labour has influenced the phenomenon locally owing to growth without productivity.
The research recommends stakeholders take major policy decisions to change the outlook.
The CaPRI Researcher explains that over the years since 2015, there has been a significant reduction in the number of skilled workers, thereby impacting productivity nationally. The team went on to discuss other findings and strategies that could help policymakers counter this phenomenon over time. Watch the report:
