Opposition Spokesperson on National Security, Senator Peter Bunting has lashed out at Prime Minister Andrew Holness, and other government officials, who he says are seemingly placing the royal family above the average Jamaican.
Bunting’s adamant that British imperialism be called out for its wrongdoings. Prime Minister Andrew Holness’ declaration of 12 days of mourning following the passing of Queen Elizabeth the second, has received widespread public criticism.
Opposition spokesperson on National Security, Peter Bunting says he is been having conflicted feelings on the matter, especially as it relates to the king being the country’s head of state. Senator bunting says his disappointment for the former prime minister, and other government officials who continue to exaggerate the need for grieving the queen’s passing is growing.
He believes the government is not as sensitive to the needs of ordinary Jamaicans. Prime Minister Holness’ absence at the Caricom Heads of Government’s meeting did not go unnoticed, as bunting underscores Holness’ alleged willingness to be present at the queen’s funeral. Bunting says the country is not obliged out of some notion of politeness and respect to not call out the British empire for its wrongdoings. He is calling on Prime Minister Holness to focus more on the state of health care, and the continuous pleas for proper garbage disposal in the country.
